Often people want to attend a creative workshop or want to book a workshop but unsure what to do so here are a few tips to help.
Some people offer standard packages from you to choose from. However, I offer bespoke workshops. This requires a few more questions to be answered but it is to get a workshop / workshops suited to you, your staff, members, students etc for your budget and needs.
Questions you may be asked
- What subject are you interested in?
- How many people will be involved?
- Where will it be?
- Would I need to find a venue?
- What is the purpose of the workshop? E.g. to create decorations for an event, to make gifts for an occasion, to learn a particular skill, build communication or just to have fun.
- What’s your budget? You don’t have to be exact on the first conversations but an approximate idea helps the process and precents wasting time.
- Length of workshops? 1 hour one off, 2 hours once a week for a month etc
- Are there any additional needs? E.g. fear of a colour, Arthritis in hands, visual impairment.
- How long is there to plan to workshops.
- How payment will be paid? COD, 50% upfront and 50% on completion.
- Do you require me to provide to materials? I recommend this. It’s not only a hassle removed from your hands but I have access to bulk buying which gives better value.
- When will the workshops be?
Twelve questions may seem excessive for workshops but we are all different, with different needs and expectations. Think of a bespoke workshops as a tailored suit, the more measurements, the better the fit.
If you don’t have answers for all of these questions, don’t worry, a workshop leader of any value will help you work through them together. If the workshop leader only offers standard packages, they will probably ask less questions as they have a set offering. Where I design for you and your needs so I need to know more.
Please remember that research and preparation takes a lot of time, so value that and don’t time waste. If you are feeling out ideas or unsure, say so. The truth is best and leads to best value.
